Doo wop is coming back to Grand Boulevard. Boomerz, the Tampa Bay vocal group that bills its show as "Doo Wop at its best," returns to Richey Suncoast Theatre on Sunday, January 31, 2027 at 2:00 PM for an afternoon of street corner harmony, classic hits from the 1950s and 1960s, and a special guest appearance by Eddy "Elvis" Dean.
Street Corner Harmony, Live on Stage
Boomerz have been singing together for more than twenty years, taking their sound from street corners to the stage. Their style is built on tight, layered vocal harmony anchored by a rich, deep bass, performed both a cappella and with soundtracks, the way the great vocal groups of the doo wop era did it.
Their recording, Street Corner Harmony, is a good taste of what they love to sing: Just Over the Brooklyn Bridge, Remember Then, In the Still of the Night, Blue Moon and Unchained Melody, along with Looking for an Echo, a song that tells the story of doo wop itself.
Why You Don't Want to Miss It
Keeping the memories alive: The songs that played on car radios, at sock hops and at first dances, sung live with real vocal harmony.
A special guest: Eddy "Elvis" Dean joins the afternoon for a little extra rock and roll.
An easy Sunday matinee: A 2:00 PM curtain makes for a relaxed afternoon out with friends and family.
Reserved seating: Pick your exact seats from the theatre seating map when you buy.
A Sunday Afternoon in Downtown New Port Richey
As Richey Suncoast Theatre celebrates its 100th year, there is something fitting about classic harmonies filling a theatre that has been entertaining New Port Richey since 1926. Come early for lunch in Downtown New Port Richey, then stroll over to the theatre and settle in for the show. It is the perfect way to close out a big January on the RST stage, a month that also brings Two Voices, the Cypress Creek Jazz Band and Meet Loaf. For more to see and do downtown, visit New Port Richey Main Street.
