Preserving the Heart of New Port Richey
For nearly a century, the Richey Suncoast Theatre has been more than just a building—it’s the cultural heartbeat of downtown New Port Richey. Originally built to showcase the films of silent movie star Thomas Meighan, this landmark is now preparing for a major face-lift to ensure it stands for another hundred years.
The "Letters With E" Success
Restoration efforts received a massive boost recently thanks to the "Letters With E" benefit concert. Featuring Ed Roland of Collective Soul, the event was a resounding success:
Funds Raised: Over $42,000 through ticket sales and auctioned items.
National Draw: Fans flew in from across the country, bringing new eyes to our downtown district.
What’s Next for the Restoration?
Renovating a century-old monument is a marathon, not a sprint. The Board of Directors, led by Interim President Lia Gallegos, has a clear roadmap for the immediate future:
The Roof (January 2026): Work begins at the top to secure the structure.
Hurricane Proofing: Bolstering upper windows and doors to protect the stage from Florida's big storms.
Exterior Refurbishment: Once the building is watertight, the focus shifts to restoring its historic facade.
By preserving this space, we aren't just saving bricks and mortar; we are keeping a home alive for the next generation of performers and creators.
