When Disney's Frozen JR. opens August 6 at Richey Suncoast Theatre, we're not asking anyone to sit quietly and behave. Quite the opposite.
Come dressed as your favorite character — and you're in the running.
Why We're Doing This
Our Young Artist Committee picked this show. They're a group of young theatre-makers who meet every month to learn the craft of putting on a production, from strategy to the stage. Frozen JR. is what they chose.
And a show chosen by kids should be a show that lets kids show up as themselves. So the costume contest runs at all five performances.
The Prizes
Awarded at every performance — not just opening night:
First Place — Two tickets to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, our next production (one adult, one child)
Second Place — A $10 concessions certificate
Third Place — A free popcorn certificate
Five performances. Fifteen winners.
How It Works
Entry is free with your ticket. Just stop by the Costume Contest table in the lobby when you arrive — nothing to sign up for in advance.
Costumes are judged before curtain, and winners are announced right before the show begins.
What the Judges Look For
Creativity — original takes are welcome
Character likeness — how well you captured them
Craftsmanship — handmade counts for a lot here
Overall presentation — commit to the bit
The Rules
Family-friendly costumes only
No weapons or props that could be unsafe in a crowded lobby
One entry per guest, per performance
A guest may only win once during the run — come back in a new costume anytime, but the prizes get shared around
Who Can Enter
Anyone. Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, Sven — or something entirely your own. Winter creations with nothing to do with Arendelle are absolutely welcome. Adults aren't excluded, though we'll be honest: the kids usually win.
About the Show

Come With a Crowd
Costume contests are better with a group. Grab a row, get a few families together, and let the kids arrive as a full cast of characters. A VIP Box seats four, if you want the best view in the house.
And the timing works in your favor — Pasco County schools go back August 13. This is the last weekend of summer break. One more good memory before the alarms start again.
