Close your eyes and you might swear the King is back in the building. Elvis in Person starring Matt Stone comes to Richey Suncoast Theatre for one Sunday afternoon show on January 24, bringing the voice, the moves and the charisma of Elvis Presley in his prime to downtown New Port Richey.
Meet Matt Stone
Matt Stone is a South Florida Elvis tribute artist, and in 2022 Graceland named him one of the top Elvis tribute artists in the world. His Elvis story started early. He picked up the guitar at age 5 and became a superfan at 12, after watching Uncle Jesse sing "Jailhouse Rock" on a Full House rerun. As a teenager he sang Elvis songs at retirement homes, restaurants and open mic nights, and he played his first theater show at 17.
The King in His Prime
Matt sets out to portray Elvis the way he really was, not the way pop culture tends to show him. He has spent years studying Elvis's voice, phrasing and mannerisms, and his vocals have been heard on SiriusXM's Elvis Radio. The people closest to Elvis have noticed. Billy Stanley, Elvis's stepbrother, put it simply: "If I close my eyes, that's Elvis."
