Young Frankenstein

MUSICAL COMEDY

Sept. 10-27

The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein, based on Brooks' 1974 black-and-white film. It's a parody of Mary Shelley's 1818 thriller, Frankenstein, as well as the horror film genre right up to this day. Set in 1934, it's the tale of a young New York scientist, Frederick Frankenstein, who is ashamed of being the grandson of the looney scientist. The young scientist is forced to go back to Transylvania Heights to settle his grandfather's estate, where he meets the suspicious hunchback Igor, the sexy lab assistant Inga and the menacing housekeeper Frau Blucher, who frightens even the horses. It's full of zany shtick, movie references, innuendo and classic Mel Brooks off-the-wall humor.

Key For Two

COMEDY

Oct. 15-Nov. 1

Key for Two, a bedroom farce with slamming doors, mistaken identities, double entendres, etc. In it, the lovely Harriet has increased her income by "entertaining" two married men in her apartment, being careful to keep them apart by warning them that her strict mother could appear at any time. Complications arise when Harriet's dear friend Anne unexpectedly arrives for a visit, and the whole schedule goes down the drain.

A Pasco Christmas Musical

Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 4-6 (two weekends only):

Always a surprise, but with a large cast, lots of singing and colorful costumes.

If A Man Answers

 Comedy

Jan. 14-31, 2016

If a Man Answers, a comedy set in Paris, where a doting mother coaches her young married daughter Chantel in how to please her husband, fashion photographer Eugene: "Treat him like a dog." That means praise him when he fetches, encourage him to obey and play with him every day. It works until the bombshell Tina shows up to be photographed and Chantal confides her secret to a happy marriage to her. Tina betrays Chantal, and the trouble starts.

The Drowsy Chaperone

 Comedy

March 2-20, 2016

The Drowsy Chaperone, a musical within a comedy, a parody of musical comedies from the 1920s. As the antisocial fan of 1920s Broadway musicals, simply called Man in Chair, snuggles down in his comfy armchair late one night, playing the soundtrack from his favorite show, the characters stroll into his shabby apartment, transforming it into a glittering Broadway stage with a sophisticated cast of characters and a complicated plot with all the cliches of early Broadway musicals and the Man in Chair commenting on them from time to time.

Urinetown: The Musical

May 12-29, 2016

Urinetown: The Musical is a dark satire based on a brutal water shortage that forces everyone to pay a fee to urinate — or else be hauled off to the hideous Urinetown. It skewers the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement and municipal politics, with parodies of well-known social commentary musicals like Les Miserables and The Threepenny Opera.
